How Much Can the 2025 Ram 1500 Tow?
The maximum towing capacity for the 2026 Ram 1500 fluctuates depending on which engine is powering it, so let’s take a closer look at each engine’s towing capacity:
3.6L Pentastar V6 Engine with eTorqueÂ
Standard in the Tradesman and Big Horn trim levels of the 2026 Ram 1500, this engine is the starter level when it comes to power and performance. That being said, it can still handle a maximum towing capacity of 8,110 lbs (3,679 kgs) when properly equipped, which allows it to take larger travel trailers, small horse trailers, and even small- and medium-sized boats.
5.7 HEMI V8 Engine
This late-availability engine is available in the Tradesman, Big Horn, Limited, Longhorn, Sport, and Laramie trim levels of the 2026 Ram 1500, and offers the maximum towing capacity of 11,310 lbs (5,130 kg), putting it in second place as far as towing capacity goes. This engine makes easy work of larger items like fifth-wheel campers, most recreational boats, and multi-horse trailers.
3.0L Hurricane I6 Engine
This engine comes standard in the Sport, Rebel, and Laramie trim levels, and is also available on both the Tradesman and Big Horn trim levels. As the next strongest engine in the lineup, it raises the maximum towing capacity to 11,570 lbs (5,248 kgs), meaning you can take larger travel trailers including fifth-wheel campers, multi-horse trailers, and almost all sizes of recreational boats with this engine under the hood of your 2026 Ram 1500.
3.0 T6 Hurricane High‑Output (HO) Engine
This engine is best-in-class and comes standard on the Limited, Limited Longhorn, RHO, and Tungsten trim levels. While it ups the power of the light-duty truck, its maximum towing capacity is a little less than the 3.0L Hurricane I6 engine, coming in at 9,920 lbs (4,500 kgs). However, this still allows you to take larger items like fifth-wheel campers, multi-horse trailers, and most recreational boats.
